Mission Concepcion is a national historical park that consists of a sanctuary, convent, nave and a granary. This historical park is worth visiting as the visitors learn more of the Franciscan ancestors, their beliefs, and way of life. All the stories told about the Concepcion have their origin in the historical park.

The mission Concepcion is believed to have been built against the claims of the French colonialists. What makes this historical site stand out is that it is believed to be unrestored and its colorful designs are still visible. Though the patters have since faded due to age, the over two-decade mission’s frescos can be spotted on its several rooms.

Brief History

The Franciscan friars are believed to have established the mission in the year 1716. The main role of the mission was to teach Catholicism to the converted Hasinais for them to gain Spanish citizenship. In 1731 the mission was moved to San Antonio, where it has been sitting to date.

The mission has since maintained its culture as every Sunday, a Catholic mass is held. To maintain its original look, the management engaged experts in 1988 to restore the faded artwork on its ceilings.

Conclusion

Weddings are allowed within the park but it should be officiated by the individual church couples are interested in. Visitors are allowed to park during park hours but should contact the management in case there are weddings or funnels taking place.
