Let Tint World® protect your eyes

It’s no secret that prolonged and repeated sun exposure can damage and lead to premature aging of the skin. The experts at Tint World® can tint your vehicle windows to reduce the risk by eliminating up to 95 percent of harmful ultraviolet rays from the sun. We can also tint the windows at your home or business for another layer of sun protection for your family.

But there are some other things to worry about, and something else we can help prevent: Cataracts, glaucoma, cancers and other diseases of the eye. Ophthalmologists and scientists have concluded in several studies that exposure to sunlight can have an adverse, long-term effect on eyesight. When you’re outside, you can wear a hat and sunglasses to protect against UV rays. You might not give it much thought while driving your ride. But check out your left arm after a road trip and you’ll understand the need for window tint if you don’t already have it.

The human eye contains a lens that refracts the light that enters our field of vision. Excessive, prolonged sun exposure can damage the lens, leading to cataracts. They might not develop for years, but cataracts are the result of damaged lenses, and the first symptom is generally cloudy vision. Surgery is generally necessary to correct the problem.

Other conditions that can arise from sun exposure over time include pterygium and pinguecula. Pterygium, also known as “Surfers Eye,” manifests itself as a small piece of fleshy tissue that can eventually cover the cornea. Its precursor is usually pinguecula, a small calcium growth that forms on the side of the eye.

The role of sunlight in the development of glaucoma is also under additional scrutiny. Put simply, glaucoma is essentially the closure of the eye’s ductwork that can lead to increased, dangerous pressure on the eyeball. Some research has concluded that summer sun exposure can dramatically increase the risk of developing one kind of glaucoma, called exfoliation system. A Mount Sinai Health System physician has said the evidence is such that it nearly substantiates the role of UV-blocking as a preventative measure.

Without insurance, cataract and glaucoma surgeries can easily exceed $5,000 per eye. The value of good eyesight is priceless.

Any way you cut it, window-tinting can be helpful to your health.
