It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss of Larry Frederick, a true pioneer in the automotive industry, leaving behind a legacy of innovation, dedication, and passion.
Larry was a member of a small group of pioneers who helped launch and nurture the car audio market. Often referred to as “the Godfather of car audio,” his enthusiasm and dedication to the industry never wavered. A small group of us at Tint World® even fortunate to have had the honor of working with Larry, and witnessing his brilliance firsthand.
Over the course of his career, Larry led sales and product development at some of the most prominent car audio companies in the world, including Phoenix Gold, Alpine, Audiomobile, Elettromedia, Concept, and Cerwin Vega/Diamond Audio. Larry was also responsible for the design of all Diamond Audio and Cerwin Vega Mobile products released between 2011 and 2019.
Larry was well-known for being authentic, knowledgeable, and selflessly-dedicated to helping others in the industry advance. He had a gift for teaching and training, and industry installers often studied his every word. Larry’s expertise in electronics and electrical theory was unparalleled, and he always insisted on accuracy and correctness.
Into his 70s, Larry started Cicada Audio, which focused on motorcycle audio systems. His passion for innovation never waned, as he continued to invent new products, and push the boundaries of what was possible in the automotive industry.
On behalf of all of us at Tint World®, we are deeply grateful for all that Larry did for our industry. As a true pioneer and trailblazer, his legacy will live on in the countless people he trained and inspired.
We also offer our thoughts and deepest condolences to Larry’s wife Adrianna, and his daughters Catherine and Ashley during this difficult time. We are incredibly grateful for the time we had with Larry and the impact he made on our industry. He will be sorely missed.
