Beginner Tips for Upgrading Car Performance

April 27, 2021

Whether it’s adding custom vinyl graphics or performing a complete overhaul of the exhaust system, car enthusiasts will invest money in their vehicles. The average customer, however, may not be willing to spend thousands of dollars to upgrading their vehicle’s performance. They may settle for less expensive alternatives to improve their car.

If you are just starting to explore in auto performance customization, here are a few upgrades for you to consider:

  • Performance tires: While there is nothing wrong with stock tires, they can wear down faster over time. A pair of performance tires can improve vehicle handling, acceleration, and even fuel efficiency. They also can give your vehicle a more stylish look.
  • Brake pad setup: Upgrading your brake pads is one of the most economical way to improve performance without breaking the bank. A great set of brakes will reduce stopping distance between vehicles while also eliminating the fade in repeated hard-braking instances. For faster vehicles, consider upgrading to a performance-oriented brake setup.
  • Spark plugs: Spark plugs help increase horsepower increasing the spark at the firing tip. It is important to replace spark plugs every 50,000 to 100,000 miles. Most engines use one spark plug per cylinder.
  • Air intake kit: Just like humans, your car needs to breathe. Aftermarket air intakes are designed draw denser, cooler air into the engine, increasing power and fuel efficiency, while also prolonging the engine’s life.
