That’s great news for employees. It means it’s easier to find a job and negotiate better pay and benefits. But for employers, it means that the available labor pool is shrinking, making it a challenge to recruit the best people for your team.

- Make a profile. Who is the ideal candidate for the position you have open? Where do they go online for information, shopping and entertainment? What do they enjoy in their spare time? Build a profile of the perfect candidate and let it guide you in where you choose to advertise your open position.
- Ask around. We all know that word-of-mouth recommendations are a great way to build your customer base, but they’re also a great way to build the right team. Put the word out to your staff and customers that you’re hiring, and maybe offer an incentive for referring a successful candidate.
- Use your network. In franchising, you’re never going it alone. The home office and your fellow franchise location owners will have excellent insight and tips for recruiting best practices.
