From sunny southern California to vibrant south Florida, Philip Delgado has always been driven by his passion for mechanics and motors. At sixteen years of age, while others are just starting to get a grip of their gears, Delgado was carving a niche for himself behind the parts counter of a marine and powersports dealership.
“I was 16, which is pretty young to be working behind the parts counter,” Delgado said. “Most of the other employees were in their 20s or 30s or older, and the mechanics we worked with could be kind of salty. But I had a knack for it. In the end it accelerated my knowledge of the industry and helped set me on the path of a career that I love.”
Delgado studied mechanical engineering and business in college. After graduating, he joined a national automotive parts retailer and distributor before becoming director of sales and marketing for a well-known fuel supplier.
His quick rise in the industry included several moves all around the United States, but a few years ago he decided to settle with his family in Florida.
“My mom moved to Florida, and I came down for a couple of weeks for two big industry events and to visit her,” Delgado said. “My wife and kids and I loved it immediately. The climate is similar to Southern California, but the cost of living feels much more reasonable. That’s when I reached out to Tint World®.”
The family officially landed in Florida in 2022, when Delgado started working as an operations manager for the leading automotive aftermarket franchise. He’s just transitioned to a new role as the company’s product manager, where he’ll help oversee the full range of parts and accessories available in Tint World stores and through www.tintworld.com, from fenders and grills to ignition systems and floor mats.
He’s also heavily involved in representing Tint World at industry events, such as the recently completed 2023 SEMA Show and the upcoming 12 Hours of Sebring.
“Events like these are great, because a lot of industry people are there, as well as automotive nerds who spend a lot of money on their vehicles,” Delgado said. “They’re also a lot of fun. Sometimes it feels like a dream that I get to do that as my job.”
It may be a dream, but it’s taken a lot of hard work to get here. Delgado has been building to where he is now from the very start of his career. And now his passion and experience are helping drive Tint World as the company continues to grow and define the possibilities for the automotive franchise industry.
