From the day he visited Tint World® franchise headquarters for his Discovery Day, Eric Nauert knew he was going to become a part of the National Automotive Styling Centers’ family of franchisees.
“They really do treat you like family,” said Nauert, who owns and operates the new Tint World® center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. “They treated me like I was a part of their team, but I wasn’t even on the team, yet. They were like an open book. You could ask anyone whatever you needed to ask and they would give you the answer right on the spot. They were very transparent.”
Nauert spent most of his adult life as an insurance adjuster for catastrophic events and had to travel all over the country. Then, about two years ago, he let his passions for vinyl wrapping vehicles take over as his focus, full time.
“I was wrapping cars in my garage for my friends who race,” he said. “After I got burned out from the insurance business, I decided I wanted to turn my passion into a business and that’s what I did.”
But, in order to grow, Nauert said he had to consider buying into an automotive styling franchise because he found it difficult to work with vinyl wrapping manufacturers as a singular small business owner.
That’s when he began to search the industry for franchises to join.
He and his wife, Tracy, were bowled over by both the ongoing training and support Tint World® offered their franchisees, and by their red-carpet treatment during the discovery process. He said meeting with Tint World® CEO and President Charles Bonfiglio, COO Jeff Stark, Director of Marketing Jacob Eisenberg, and Director of Franchise Development Anthony Foley, all helped cement his decision to join the Tint World® team during a Discovery Day, a comprehensive, hands-on tour of the franchise and its daily operations and procedures.
“Every aspect of the Tint World® model gave us confidence,” he said. “From their ongoing marketing and advertising efforts to their transparency and training. They weren’t hiding anything.”
Nauert has had an interest in automotive styling since he was a child helping his father do bodywork in his family’s garage.
“I like wrapping cars,” he said. “I like changing the colors without actually having to paint the car.”
Nauert currently owns a 1972 Chevrolet Camaro, a 1937 Chevrolet, and a 1962 Ford Ranchero, but his dream car is a 1963 Corvette, which he someday plans to own.
Nauert said his Colorado Springs customers are very appreciative of the store’s cleanliness and offerings.
“They’re shocked at the number of services we offer here,” he said “In Colorado Springs, you usually have to go to a variety of shops to get everything you need – one place for stereos and tint, another for wheels and tires, and then somewhere else for detailing. We offer all that and more under one roof!”
Nauert said his advice to any person looking into franchising a Tint World® location is to be patient and follow the Tint World® system.
“You have to follow their system,” he said. “If you’ve owned your own business before, don’t think your system is better than theirs because it’s not. Just be patient because the system really works. I’ve only been open a few weeks and I’m already at the $9,000-$10,000 a-week mark.”
Nauert said he and his wife are so pleased with the Tint World® system that they are looking to purchase another store in Colorado Springs in the near future.
“My only regret about this experience is not having started at 30 years old instead of 50,” he said.
