Social media is a popular, low-cost tool that any franchisee can use to engage with current and potential customers and market their location.
When first venturing into social media, it’s important to remember two important concepts: Consistency & Engagement. Opening an account on a social media website, posting one or two items, and then letting it go dormant is a recipe for disaster. Secondly, take every opportunity to engage in conversations with customers. One of the most powerful aspects of social media is its ability to create community. You can use that to build your business.
Let’s look deeper into how these two areas can be put into practice:
Consistency
When you first begin promoting your location on social media, it’s critical to commit to posting consistently. While you can also schedule your posts in advance, remember that you’ll still need to be realistic about your objectives and posting frequency. Also, don’t sign up for every platform and attempt to “do it all” from day one. Take it slow. It’s much better to be highly-engaged on a single platform, than spread so thin that you can never maintain an active presence. Build an audience one platform at a time and remember that this is a community that you’re trying to create, revolving around your business – but more on that in our next section.
Make sure to do some research before deciding which platform to start with. Identify where your potential customers spend the majority of their time. Understand what hashtags are commonly associated with the products and services you sell, and study the best ways to ensure your content gets in front of these potential customers. Once you feel confident you’ve identified where your audience is, it’s time to set up that account and start posting! Don’t forget – post at least a few times a week, every week, to slowly establish the audience and community you want.
Community
That brings us to our second concept: Engagement. Don’t just use your profile as a podium to talk about yourself and your business. Interact with your customers and potential customers on their level. Provide some free advice that helps someone solve a problem or even share an occasional meme to show a more light-hearted side to your audience.
Remember that when you choose to participate in a conversation, you are speaking as an extension of your business and build credibility with your audience. Gain their trust, speak to them as equals, and provide a reason for them to keep listening to what you have to say. Whether it’s an opportunity to answer one-on-one questions, providing some insider advice, or providing a live demonstration on a certain customer’s vehicle, leverage a strategy that keeps them engaged. Always stay away from retail-oriented content that only ever advertises your business or asks them to spend money as this is likely to disinterest your audience base fast. Instead, show them the value of the services you offer and you’ll be surprised how many reach out to you asking for pricing.
Now you’re ready to utilize social media to market your automotive styling franchise! Don’t forget – we’re always here to help. Plus, if you have any questions or need some specific advice, you’re welcome to reach out any time.
